Prom Night!

Hollywood all gussied up. I know her feet will be killing her.

Tonight is prom night. I hope its as much fun for the kids as it was for the parents. All of the kids met at Sam's house and posed for pictures. All the parents were there - I counted 15 of us. Sam's mom had asked us all to bring a dish so we barbequed and had a great meal and fellowship. The weather was incredible - the day could not have been any more perfect.

A Party for Rob

Today we had a party for Rob, one of my co-workers. Rob is getting married in less than 2 weeks and we had a cake for him and his soon-to-be missus - Cheryl. Rob is a real go-getter and is a hard worker. He has not been in banking long, but in the short time he has been here, he has made a real impact. He's well-liked by all, but we particularly like Cheryl!
The whole gang was there and we really enjoyed the icecream cake as well as the deviled eggs with horseradish. My cheeseball made a respectable showing as it was eaten by more than 50%.

Happy Mothers Day

To all you Moms out there - Happy Mother's Day! My day started off with breakfast in bed - oatmeal with peanut butter and protein powder plus some of those fresh strawberries. Might not sound too appealing but it was delicious and it is what I typically have for breakfast.

I also came downstairs to a beautiful vase of yellow lilies - so bright and sunny - it just made my day.I also had the nicest card from Hollywood and G-Man has sent me a card as well with just the most lovely words. He also sent something to me that has yet to arrive. What more could a Mom ask for?

Thanks to my sister, here is photograph of my mother at age 21.
She died in 1993 at the age of 59. I try not to get sad, but gain strength from her memory. I still miss her terribly.

In Search of the Perfect Strawberry

Strawberry season is in full swing here. Hollywood and I went to one of the farms a couple of weeks ago and got two baskets of berries - they were sooo good. Yesterday we were driving around and I commented on how good they had been. Right then and there we decided to go back for more. Some of these berries are so ripe, they melt in your mouth and taste very sweet. Nothing like right from the vine.

You Can Feel it in the Air

Last Sunday was Parent/Senior night at Hollywood's school. It was very nice - all the seniors and their parents were there. There was a short program and the honor graduates were recognized and given their gold tassels. Graduation is right around the corner and you can feel it in the air. This is Hollywood with the school principal, Mr. P.

This is Hollywood with her guidance counselor, Mr. C. Mr. C. has been a friend and a mentor as well as XC coach for the last four years.
One of her all-time favorite teachers is pictured here with her, Mrs. W. Mrs. W. taught her AP US History last year. Hollywood is very fond of Mrs. W. and sometimes stays after school to help her with miscellaneous administrative tasks.

All of the honor graduates posed for pictures with their gold tassels. It is a great time in their lives as they are finally reaping the reward of the hard work they have put into the last four years. I know all their parents are proud.
Here is a picture of Hollywood with one of her friends SK. SK is sweet and very bright - she is going to the University of Virginia in the fall on a Navy ROTC scholarship. Go Navy!

Important Men in my life

Here are two. Marc and Stan Evanstein. They are my hairdressers - mostly Marc - the one with the beautiful long hair. Don't get me wrong, Stan has great hair too, it just doesn't cascade. Marc has been cutting and coloring my hair for as long as I can remember. Now he cuts Hollywood's hair and has even cut G-Man's hair. I tell anyone that will listen that getting my hair done is not an appointment, it is an adventure. These two have so many friends and I get to hear animated snippets of what is going on with everyone. Marc is very funny and very high energy. He makes me happy. Except that he never cuts my bangs short enough.

Bankers Working Hard and Playing Hard

Here are a few photos from our recent offsite in Raleigh, NC. We are fortunate that one of our co-workers owns a beautiful piece of property outside the city and she has a facility for events. We got a lot done in 2 days and we really had a good time after hours.

Here is my boss's boss with her boss - we had the big guns in.

And here is my boss with his boss
doing Sonny & Cher.

Here's some of the gang, working hard by day, partying hard by night.

Before karaoke we had a pig pickin'. It was fabulous food!

This group has rhythm. They had a group lesson on the electric slide. And they looked fabulous!
Singing Bon Jovi's Dead or Alive.

Who says
bankers aren't fun???
